Chocolates by Grimaldi

April 21, 2015

Side Entrance Looking for a quick treat and activity for the kids? Chocolates by Grimaldi in Grand Haven is the place for you. They are a family own and operated chocolate factory that produces some very yummy treats. They have a glass wall to watch production of the candies, they also have factory tours and free samples to help you in your purchasing selection.

We took the kids in for a quick tour and tasting. It was long enough to keep the busy and short enough to keep the attention of the small ones. The tasting was great because the kids were then able to select the candies they liked, the chocolate covered potato chips are pretty awesome.

The tours are free for kids under 4, the rest its $3 a person.

They are located at 219 N 7th Street just west of US 31 in Grand Haven, MI. they are open 9-5 most days and till 6PM Tues-Fri. For more information on Chocolates by Grimaldi visit:

Valentines Day

February 6, 2015

2015 Valentines Day is quickly approaching and with it being on a Saturday expect a busy night at the restaurants, clubs, shows, concerts, etc. There are so many things going on in West Michigan on the Feb 14th, I am not going to list them all. However, here are a few suggestions.

Stay local, its still winter and who wants to be stuck in the snow or be in a fender bender on Valentines Day. Go to the local restaurant you don’t normally go to but like. For example, the Hearthstone in Muskegon is a great local restaurant my wife and I use to visit once a month or so but with kids not so often. Ouzo’s in Kalamazoo is having a jazz night or maybe dinner and drinks at Bullshead in Grand Rapids.

Want a weekend getaway? The Amway Grand and JW Marriott both have some great Valentine Day room packages with truffles, champagne in the room, and many other options.  Maybe a Bed and Breakfast is a better option like The Belvedere Inn in Saugatuck with five course candle lit dinner. The Bay Pointe Inn in Shelbyville has live music and dinner at the Terrace Grille.

Couple classes are also other popular choices, cooking classes in particular. Grand Rapids Down Town Market has Couples Cooking with Beer, Thought Design Learning Studio in Rockford has Love is In The Air (Italian Cooking Class), or the thePlate Boutique in Grand Rapids has a Valentine’s Day Breakfast In Bed Cooking Class.

Well have fun and have a Happy Valentines Day!
