248. Celery Flats
The Portage Celery Flats is part of Portage Creek Bicentennial Park, but it has a very distinct personality and is consider to be in itself a park on its own. The Flats have a Interpretive Center that highlights the the importance of the celery industry to Kalamazoo County. The park also has several restored buildings that are used for community events and are available for private use.
A visit to the Celery Flats offers activities for everyone. Back in my college days at WMU this was the ideal place to roller blade because the park had flat paved trails. The Park is equipped with playground facilities, a picnic area and walking trails. The park also has rebuilt school house and other historical buildings with educational tours.
