188. 87th Annual Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival

July 9, 2011

Wow, 87 years of Coast Guard Festival thats a lot of fun, fireworks, carnivals, picnics, and just summertime fun. For some people it wouldn’t be summer unless they have a doss of the Coast Guard Festival. Some people have this event down to a science with taping off their spot for the parade, where they meet for the fireworks, or the picnic meeting place during the Art Fair. They can tell you the ins and out of how they have enjoyed the festival over the years, I think if you just wing it and show up you will enjoy your day or days at the festival. Regardless its another fantastic festival filled with fun, celebration, and tradition as we honor the men and women of the United States Coast Guard. Every day is packed with activities, events, and attractions for all ages. Many activities are free, and you will find plenty of fun and choices from Kid’s Day to the Street Dance and Cruise-In Car Show, to carnival rides, picnics, parades, and ship tours.
There’s so much to do check out the festival web page for a uptodate list of activities: http://www.coastguardfest.org/
What ever you choose to do this week, don’t miss the final night of the festival when they light up the town of Grand Haven and its waterfront with a Fireworks Extravaganza.
