177. S.S. Milwaukee Clipper
S.S. Milwaukee Clipper Open for Tours
This is an event I have been waiting for. Being a big history buff and seeing the Clipper almost everyday for the past few years my curiosity is peaked. Where the Clipper is located you can walk the trail or take the Muskegon Trolley from Muskegon Celebration or the beach. Its right on the edge of the Lakeside community in Muskegon.
The S.S. Milwaukee Clipper will receive visitors again starting July 2nd, after a three-year hiatus. The ship will be open for tours 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Labor Day. The ship will also be open July 4th. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and free for children 5 and younger and can be purchased at the ship, near the corner of McCracken and Lakeshore. The ticket revenue will go toward the ship`s restoration. The tour will cover four of the ship`s six decks. The ship, originally named the Juniata, first launched in 1904 – eight years before the Titanic. It sailed for 31 years.
