91. Air Zoo
OK, first off Air Zoo is not a bunch of Cardinals, Pigeons, Blue Jays or clouds in cages but they do have a SR-71B Blackbird. The Air Zoo has over 50 aircraft on display, so you can walk through history, from World War II bombers to the modern SR-71B Blackbird. The Air Zoo in Portage is an exciting place for the young and old, for boys and girl. From a Women Airforce Service Pilots exhibit to the Michigan Aviation Hall of Fame, the Air Zoo brings you intriguing flight exhibits. The Air Zoo is more than just a museum you walk through its very interactive with 3D & 4D theaters, rides, 9 hole disc golf course, simulators, and even have overnight paranormal investigations. They really have something for everybody.
The Air Zoo will be the busiest when the kids don’t have school but if crowds really aren’t your thing then avoid the Air Zoo during the time when the Battle Creek/Kalamazoo Balloon and Air Show is taking place. However, when there is a balloon and air show it will attract planes, pilots, exhibits that are not normally in the area making the Air Zoo even more exciting. With the WMU School of Aviation nearby its a great place to visit for the young pilot at heart who wants to explore their wings.
