Guided Snowshoe Hikes

Guided snowshoe hikes will be offered on Saturdays beginning Jan 15, 2011 at P J Hoffmaster State Park. 6585 Lake Harbor Road. Hikes begin at 10:30 am at the Gillette Dune Visitor Center. Hikes will be offered through Feb. 26 and will include a special moonlight hike at 7pm on Feb 18. Preregistration is required by calling 231-798-3573. Those who don`t have snowshoes can reserve a pair for a small fee. If there is less than 6 inches of snow, the guide will lead participants on a winter exploration of the park. The hikes are FREE and open to the public, but motor vehicles need a state park permit, which is $8 for a daily permit.

If you have never made it out to Hoffmaster its worth the hike up the dunes and to the top of the observation tower for a great view of the lakeshore from Grand Haven to Muskegon.
