February 19, 2011

Charles Spencer, Ninth Earl of Spencer and younger brother to Princess Diana, will be in Grand Rapids on Jan. 10 to participate in special events for the Diana – A Celebration, an exhibition at the Grand Rapids Art Museum now through February 16. GRAM will host a reception with Spencer at 7 p.m. that evening.

Tickets for the GRAM reception are available for $50 for GRAM members and $75 for non-member by calling 616.831.1000. Ticket includes admission to the exhibition.

Diana – A Celebration presents the life and humanitarian work of one of the 20th century’s most remarkable women through nine galleries containing 150 objects ranging from her royal wedding gown and 28 of her designer dresses to family heirlooms, personal mementos, paintings and rare home movies and photos.

The exhibition is presented by the Daniel and Pamella DeVos Foundation and sponsored by Meijer, the Amway Hotel Corporation and the Frey Foundation. Diana – A Celebration is on loan from the Althorp Estate, the Spencer family’s 500-year-old ancestral home, and is produced by Arts and Exhibitions International in association with Althorp Estate and presented by the Grand Rapids Art Museum. A portion of all profits generated will go to the Althorp Estate to support the ongoing work of the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund. Since 1998, the Diana – A Celebration exhibition has generated more than $1.8 million for charities supported by the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.
